TB Europe Coalition holds second General Assembly meeting
The two languages, which were English and Russian, enabled the attendees to better participate with the TBEC network. The call allowed the organizers to give an overview of the activities and developments that happened in 2015. They also explained a case study from Latvia about best practices for collaborating with partners to apply advocacy activities for TB. Finally, they updated the participants on the TBEC activities that are scheduled for 2016.
TBEC has many activities on its agenda for 2016. The organization is an important partner in applying the TB-REP project, which has received final approval from the Global Fund. It is the first-ever regional TB grant that has been approved for Central Asia as well as Eastern Europe.
This initiative will last for three years thanks to its budget that amounts to $6 million. It will involve the 11 countries with the highest rates of MDR-TB burdens. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
