Bangkok recently hosted the Organizing Committee of the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Developing Countries Vaccine Manufacturers Network (DCVMN) from Oct. 5 to 7, 2015.

The Thai Red Cross Society, the Queen Saovabha Memorial Insittute and BioNet-Asia co-hosted the event, which was themed “Quality Vaccine for all.” The meeting was held at the Centara Grand at Central World in Thailand.

The DCVMN, a nonprofit international alliance, unites vaccine manufacturers that were established in 2000. The goal is to protect people from contracting known as well as emerging infectious diseases around the world. To accomplish this, the organization seeks to increase the availability of vaccines and improve the quality of vaccines within developing nations.

The DCVMN network currently involves 44 vaccine manufacturers located throughout 16 countries. These companies produce as well as supply more than 200 products. Forty of these products are prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO). Some of the experts in world vaccines include GAVI, PAHO, PATH, WHO, UNCIEF and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

"On behalf of the DCVMN AGM 2015 Organizing Committee, we are pleased to welcome all delegates to the conference,” Sumana Khomvilai, deputy director of QSMI, said. “We hope the meeting will be a unique opportunity to address the challenges related to vaccine production and procurement."
