Sinovac accepts tender to supply Beijing with seasonal flu vaccines
Every year, the government determines which suppliers to use based on the company’s service, quality and price, as well as other variables.
As part of the campaign, the government in Beijing has placed an order for a minimum of 1.2 million seasonal flu vaccine doses. The government has placed orders with four different manufacturers to supply the region with enough vaccines for its 2015 campaign. Depending on the amount of demand in the flu season, the quantity of the vaccine doses will be ordered later.
The Beijing government administered 1.37 million flu vaccine doses during its 2014 campaign. Sinovac provided the government with 400,000 of these doses.
The company has reported that it estimates that it will start to deliver the new vaccines for the 2015 tender during 2015’s third quarter.
“We are pleased to be selected once again by the Beijing government to supply seasonal flu vaccines for Beijing citizens,” Weidong Yin, chairman, president and CEO of Sinovac, said. “This vaccination campaign is an important step in protecting geriatric and school-age populations from influenza.”
