Walgreens, Healthcare Clinics and Duane Reade pharmacies recently announced that they will provide flu vaccinations on a daily basis without the need to schedule an appointment.

Walgreens and Healthcare Clinics will offer the shots across the U.S., and Duane Reade pharmacies will offer these services within the state of New York.

“For nearly a decade, Walgreens has been administering flu shots to help protect our patients, customers and those around them throughout the flu season,” Richard Ashworth, Walgreens president of pharmacy and retail operations, said. “With unprecedented convenience and broader coverage than ever before from health plans and insurers, it’s not only the most important preventive measure you can take for flu season, it’s also now one of the easiest.”

During clinic and pharmacy hours, people can walk into these locations and receive flu vaccinations. These hours include overnights, holidays, weekends and evenings at 24-hour locations as long as an immunizing health professional is on duty.

State age restrictions vary for Walgreens pharmacies, and Healthcare Clinics offer immunizations only for patients 2 years old and above.

Over 90 percent of Americans who receive their flu vaccines at Walgreens have their vaccinations covered by insurance.
