WHO responds to spread of Ebola in West Africa
The WHO is meeting with governments in three of the affected countries to conduct information management and enhance coordination.
WHO is also organizing a meeting between the Ministers of Health in the various regions, so they can meet with technical experts and key stakeholders. It will also provide specialists in epidemiology, case management, social mobilization, data management and logistics.
Guinea reported three Ebola deaths due to existing cases in Gueckedou and Telimele from June 18-20, though it reported no new cases of Ebola. There have been a cumulative 390 reported cases of Ebola and 270 deaths in the country.
Sierra Leone reported no new Ebola cases from June 18-20, but saw four deaths in Kailahun and Kenema. The cumulative number of Ebola cases and deaths in the country come to 158 cases and 34 confirmed deaths.
Liberia saw 10 new Ebola cases and eight deaths from June 19-22. Eight cases and six deaths were reported in Lofa, with the remaining two cases and two deaths reported in Montserrado. The cumulative number of cases in Liberia is 51 and the total number of deaths is 34.
