Global Fund selects Harley Feldbaum to lead Policy Hub

The Global Fund announced on Friday that Harley Feldbaum will become its new head of strategy and policy.

Feldbaum will fill a newly-created position designed to oversee the Policy Hub at the Global Fund, which will oversee the implementation of policies across all departments of the organization.

"Harley is a brilliant strategist," Mark Dybul, the executive director of the Global Fund, said. "He brings terrific experience and exceptional skill to this job. With all the challenges in global health, we need piercingly clear and effective policy, and Harley will lead us there."

The new strategic head of the Global Fund will serve as a senior advisor to Dybul and the Management Executive Committee, as well as monitor and coordinate priorities within the Global Fund Secretariat. Feldbaum will also be called upon to anticipate global trends by setting a new strategic direction for the organization once the current 2012-206 plan lapses.

Feldbaum most recently served as the director of global health, food security and development on the National Security Council, leading the Obama administration's strategic engagements in those areas.

Feldbaum also worked as the director of global health and foreign policy initiative at the Johns Hopkins Nitze School of Advanced International Studies and holds a doctorate in public health policy from the London School of Hygiene and Topical Medicine.
