New U.K. products make norovirus clean up more manageable

A specific cure has not yet been developed against the norovirus, or the winter vomiting bug, but new products are available in the United Kingdom to make clean up easier and minimize the spread of infection.

A new powder called Bactericidal Absorbent Powder absorbs 400 times its weight in liquids. The powder turns vomit into a gel which is not only easier to pick up, but also eliminates the risk of the airborne spread of germs. It can also be used on upholstery and fabric.

The Baggy Sweeper Set was also recently released into the market and has dustpan and squeegee capabilities to easily dispose of vomit into a disposal bag without having to touch it. This makes the clean up process more hygienic and the sweeper set can be used in combination with the Absorbent Powder.

The Extreme Bactericidal Cleaner and Sanitizer can be used against more than just the norovirus. It is a disinfecting solution that is effective in killing norovirus, E. coli, HIV, Hepatitis C, swine flu, Clostridium difficile, salmonella and other bacteria. It can be used on any surface, including floors, doorknobs, tables and phones.

Norovirus is the most common stomach infection in the United Kingdom, infecting between 600,000 and one million people each year. Risk of infection is higher in the winter months and because there is no cure, the infection must run its course.
