MedImmune partners with Pantley to give parents guide to flu season
A Parent's Guide to Flu Season means to educate parents on the necessity of flu prevention and to help them navigate flu misconceptions and myths. Pantley, the author of the No-Cry Solution parenting book series, said she welcomed the opportunity to help families protect themselves against the disease.
"Children are two to three times more likely than adults to contract the flu - and more young children in the U.S. go to the hospital each year because of flu-related complications than any other vaccine-preventable disease," Pantley said. "Many parents aren't aware of these facts. By developing this booklet with MedImmune Specialty Care, we hope to help parents understand the importance of prevention and encourage families to get an annual vaccination to help protect against the flu."
The book contains information parents can use to protect their families against influenza throughout the season. A Parent's Guide to Flu Season also includes information about flu vaccination options. The book is available for download on Facebook and Pantley's website.
MedImmune Specialty Care is also providing 750,000 print copies of the booklet to parents through parent-teacher organizations at schools throughout the U.S.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an average of 20,000 children under the age of five are hospitalized due to flu complications annually in the U.S.
