Miguel Bose launches "Be a Hero" campaign to fight AIDS

Spanish artist Miguel Bose launched the "Be a Hero" campaign on Monday, which allows everyday people to help two organizations raise $1 million by December 1, World AIDS Day, to help fight against AIDS.

"Be a hero; that is what we are asking everyone to become," Bose said.

Bose, recipient of the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person Of the Year Award, announced that AID for AIDS of New York and the Fight Against AIDS Foundation of Barcelona have teamed together to make this initiative possible. The campaign will raise funds for AIDS prevention tools, including the research and development of an AIDS vaccine and education for the public about the epidemic.

"This agreement is essential in the fight against AIDS and the request we are making, both here and in Barcelona is for all to raise our voices as one, in New York through AID FOR AIDS, and in Barcelona, through the Fight Against AIDS Foundation," Bose said.

AFA Founder Jesus Aguaid and FLS Founder Dr. Bonaventura Clotet signed the agreement of cooperation Monday, hoping to expand into all of Latin America.

"We will be supporting each other in the research and development of an AIDS vaccine, distribution and access to medicines, primary prevention education and awareness about HIV and AIDS transmission," Aguais said.
