Mosquito Squad partners with Malaria No More
The pest company has funded more than $50,000 in efforts to launch a local campaign aimed at providing mosquito nets for those in Africa living in malaria-endemic areas.
Scott Zide, the president of Outdoor Living Brands, Mosquito Squad's parent company, said that those wishing to donate money to the effort can do so through a link at Malaria No More's website.
"We are so fortunate that parents in our country don't worry about the possibility of their children contracting malaria," Zide said. "At Mosquito Squad, we can't think of a better organization that fits with our values and our corporate goals of making our world a better, safer place to live, not only in backyards across America but in the villages of Africa, as well."
Malaria was eradicated in the United States more than 50 years ago, but it still claims the lives of more than 650,000 people around the world every year. The large majority - 86 percent - of malaria deaths are in children. A $10 mosquito bed net can protect to children from the disease.
