FFF Enterprises ships flu vaccine early

FFF Enterprises, Inc., the nation's largest flu vaccine distributor, announced on Monday that shipments of its seasonal flu vaccine have begun in support of the nationwide rollout of annual influenza immunization programs.
FFF cites the exceptional performance of its manufacturing partners for sending the vaccine this early in the year. This comes on the heels of recently expanded vaccination guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advising everyone ages six months and older to get the universal vaccine.
"We are committed to distributing ample supplies of influenza vaccine into the marketplace as early in the flu season as possible," Patrick M. Schmidt, the chief executive officer at FFF Enterprises, Inc., said. "By getting a jump on the 2011-12 season and delivering influenza vaccine to our customers now, we are supporting the timely administration of nationwide immunization programs, which ultimately prevents the spread of illness and saves lives."
This year's seasonal flu vaccine immunizes against the H1N1 pandemic strain and two other strains. While the CDC notes that manufacturers and distributors typically attempt to distribute a portion of requested influenza vaccine early in the season, FFF said that influenza vaccine purchasers have been burdened by availability issues and unknown delivery dates. FFF launched the MyFluVaccine program in 2006 to help streamline the flu vaccine distribution program.
"For most people, getting immunized against influenza is the easiest and most effective way to reduce their risk of infection," Schmidt said. "With annual vaccination, they can help protect themselves and avoid spreading infection to others."
