Olivier Brandicourt named new CEO of Sanofi

The Sanofi board of directors unanimously voted to make Olivier Brandicourt the company's new CEO on Thursday. 

Brandicourt’s original career training was as a physician. He has 28 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, including holding several senior positions in the industry in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. 

Brandicourt previously worked at Bayer Healthcare AG as the chairman of the board of management. While there, he was also a member of the Executive Council. His other work experience includes major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, where he served on the global executive leadership team from 2010 to 2013; and Parke-Davis/Warner-Lambert. 

Brandi court begins his new position on April 2.

"Sanofi undertook a rigorous selection process to identify the right person to lead Sanofi forward at an important time for our company,” Serge Weinberg, chairman of the board of directors, said. “I am very pleased that Olivier Brandicourt will be the next chief executive officer of Sanofi. Olivier Brandicourt's strong experience combined with his international profile, deep knowledge of U.S. and emerging health care markets, and his capability to unite teams will provide new dynamism to Sanofi's strategy of diversification and innovation."
