NIH outlines strategic plan, initiatives for 2016

NIH outlines strategic plan, initiatives for 2016.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has published its strategic plan and initiatives for 2016 — in addition to forward-looking statements for the following three years — as a result of the solicitation of NIH advisory councils.

These announcements include scientific study partnerships; clinical and healthcare partnerships; announcements about technological initiatives; deployments to improve informational access; research initiatives for the coming year; and forward-looking projects.

The NIH outlined its essential duties, functions and mission statement: chief among these is continual work on improving access to health around the world. This is a message and mission of care and mercy, particularly for those without access to basic care. Focus upon these people — those without ready access to medicine, care and coverage — continues to drive the most essential functions of the NIH, as they strive to improve care and devise innovative ways to access it.

Access also continues to be a message and mission of the NIH. Direct access to communications technologies makes information more accessible to all, and information leads to awareness and, by extension, more informed health care decisions and increased wellness.

A message about the importance of communication drives the forward-looking statements and mission of the NIH for the outlined time period. Access, improved care and communication — along with tireless effort from all associated with, and seeking to partner with, the NIH — complete the list of renewed goals and expectations.
