Mosquito Squad donates more than $50,000 to Malaria No More

Mosquito Squad showed its support of Malaria No More on Monday by donating more than $50,000 for the fight against malaria at the International Honors 2013 event in New York City

"We are proud to support Malaria No More," Chris Grandpre, the chairman and CEO of Outdoor Living Brands, said. "It is senseless that even one more person dies because of this disease. We hope our ongoing efforts are helping win this fight to make the world a better place."

Mosquito Squad also supports Malaria No More by promoting malaria awareness through educational outreach to community groups.

More than 660,000 people die every year from malaria, with most deaths being children. Malaria is passed to humans through mosquito bites, and causes headache, fever, chills and vomiting. If the disease is not treated within 24 hours, it can lead to severe illness and death, according to the World Health Organization.

The disease is preventable with insecticide-treated mosquito nets and insecticide spray used indoors. Antimalarial medicines can also be used, as is common among travelers.

Mosquito Squad is owned by Outdoor Living Brands, and has more than 135 franchise locations nationwide. The company works to rid outdoor living spaces of mosquitoes and ticks.
