Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau collaborate on communicable diseases
The Meeting was held on Thursday and Friday in Hong Kong and attracted public health officials and medical experts from across the States, including Deputy Director General of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province Chen Zhusheng, Deputy Director of the Health Bureau of Macau SAR Cheng Seng Ip and Director of Health of Hong Kong SAR Dr. Constance Chan.
Participants discussed the regional situation of communicable disease, prevention and control of dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis, the avian influenza A H7N9 epidemic, updates on various infectious diseases and the regional emergency response in the event of a potential outbreak.
At the close of the meeting, the States agreed to increase cooperation and communication to fight against communicable diseases in the region. The officials agreed on increasing scientific research to fight avian influenza A H7N9 and dengue fever, improving the emergency response plan and increasing education for health care professionals on disease surveillance, research, control and prevention, field epidemiology and contingency management.
The Health Bureau of Macau SAR will organize the 14th Tripartite Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases.
