Zoetis receives approval for Rui Lan An

Zoetis announced on Monday that it has received approval from the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China for Rui Lan An, a vaccine that fights the highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome.

The vaccine is the first of its kind to protect against HP PRRS in swine. There is a growing demand for affordable pork in China and the vaccine, which will be launched later this month, will protect swine against this disease and make it easier for Chinese farmers to produce more pork.

"Our innovation starts with our customers and an understanding of their everyday animal health challenges," Stefan Weiskopf, executive vice president and Asia Pacific Region president at Zoetis, said. "Rui Lan An exemplifies the commitment of our joint venture to develop and manufacture quality vaccines well matched to the local health challenges facing China's pork industry. The vaccine represents our commitment to help assure a safe sustainable food supply from healthy food production animals through global scientific expertise and local innovation. It is a key milestone for Zoetis' business in China."

Zoetis is an animal health company that develops, manufactures and markets veterinary vaccines and medicines. Zoetis' products reach producers and live stock owners in 120 countries.
