Sabin Vaccine Institute adds new members to board of trustees

The Sabin Vaccine Institute recently announced the election of four new members to its board of trustees.

The Sabin Vaccine Institute is a global non-profit dedicated to the reduction of the suffering caused by vaccine preventable tropical diseases. Its new board members include Baroness Helene Hayman, Gary Rosenthal, Marc Shapiro and Alisa Swidler.

Helene Hayman is a former Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, where she recently worked as Government Minister of State. She is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Ethics Committee and has held several other prominent public service roles.

Gary Rosenthal is a partner at the Sterling Group, LP, and has been associated with the firm since the late 1980s. He currently serves as the director and chairman of the Compensation Committee of Oil States International Incorporated and is the chairman of the board of trustees at Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric research, teaching and clinical care center in the United States.

Marc Shapiro is the non-executive chairman of Chase Bank of Texas and a director of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. He is also chairman of the board of trustees of Baylor College of Medicine.

Alisa Swidler is an active partner of the William J. Clinton Global Foundation and Virgin Unite, founded by Sir Richard Branson. Swidler has held several senior public service positions, including time spent on the Leadership Council of Women for Women International.
