Michigan emergency preparedness campaign kicks off

Do 1 Thing readies for its annual emergency preparedness campaign designed to help Michigan residents better prepare for emergencies and disasters.

People can sign up at to receive monthly emergency preparedness suggestions.

“Our message is simple,” said Steve Lehman, the emergency management coordinator in Clinton County, Mich., “if each of us does just one thing per month, over the course of an entire year, we all are significantly more prepared. The results we see and hear prove it.”

A fact sheet sent each month provides specific suggestions, recommendations and goals on a particular topic.

For example, November’s topic is emergency supplies. The fact sheet gives tips to help people “do 1 thing” to make sure they have the supplies necessary to be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours.
